LESA

LESA
LESA (Low-Cost Sensor Array) is a solar-powered IoT system for precision irrigation, designed to make water-saving technology affordable for small and medium farms. It reads soil moisture and environmental conditions in real time, combines them with a proprietary offline barometric forecasting algorithm, and autonomously controls irrigation — without internet dependency, at under €50 per unit (10x cheaper than existing solutions). Developed at the University of Bologna, LESA has been EMC-validated at ITAINNOVA (Spain), published on WIPO Green, and is in an active patent process. The team combines applied physics, agronomy, business, and design.
