The TECNOVA Technological Center has strengthened its role as a key player in the digital transformation of the agri-food sector by taking part in the official launch of the international project “Supporting the Demonstration of Sustainable Digital Solutions for Agriculture” (SDN – Stírixi – digital – Nōgyō), recently held in Cyprus.

This initiative, funded by the EIG CONCERT-Japan program, brings together institutions from Japan, Cyprus, and Spain with the aim of accelerating the adoption of advanced technological solutions in agriculture. Coordinated by the Sustainable Energy Laboratory of the Cyprus University of Technology, the SDN project seeks to reduce the gap between scientific research and practical application in a strategic sector for the future of food and the environment.

TECNOVA participates as the European reference partner in applied research and technology transfer, contributing its specialized expertise and its capacity to collaborate with companies and international centers. In addition, TECNOVA leads two of the project’s main work packages. The first focuses on ensuring effective communication, maximizing the visibility and impact of the project at both national and international levels. To achieve this, the center will coordinate the promotion strategy, engage key stakeholders in the sector, and disseminate results through multiple communication channels.

The second work package is dedicated to the design and development of a collaborative digital database that compiles key information on stakeholders, funding opportunities, regulations, and emerging technologies in the field of digital agriculture. This centralized repository will act as a bridge between researchers, entrepreneurs, and agricultural professionals in Spain, Cyprus, and Japan, enabling new connections and collaborations.

During their stay in Cyprus, TECNOVA’s technical team held meetings with universities, public institutions, and technology startups, sharing experiences and strengthening new alliances to drive the digital transformation of the agricultural sector.

Mari Carmen Galera, General Director of TECNOVA, highlighted:
“This project reflects our commitment to applied innovation and our ability to lead international initiatives that connect science and business. TECNOVA has proven to be a strategic partner for the implementation of sustainable digital solutions in agriculture, contributing to the development of technologies adapted to different contexts and real needs of the sector.”

Since its foundation, TECNOVA has established itself as a leading center for the validation of technological solutions for intensive agriculture in warm climates. With a presence in more than 30 countries and a portfolio of over 200 services, the Technological Center promotes innovation in areas such as biotechnology, crop digitalization, environmental control, and data management in greenhouses.

Participation in the SDN project further strengthens TECNOVA’s internationalization strategy and its commitment to a more efficient, connected, and sustainable agriculture. Through joint work with leading entities from Asia and Europe, TECNOVA contributes to building more resilient, intelligent, and future-ready agricultural systems.
