A delegation from the TECNOVA Technological Center visited Cyprus alongside the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST, Japan) to participate in the official launch of the project “Supporting the Demonstration of Sustainable Digital Solutions for Agriculture” (SDN – Stírixi – digital – Nōgyō), an initiative funded under the EIG CONCERT-Japan program.

This new international project aims to bridge the gap between research and practical implementation in the field of digital agriculture—a rapidly growing sector that requires innovative, sustainable solutions adapted to different contexts.

Coordinated by the Sustainable Energy Laboratory at the Cyprus University of Technology, SDN brings together two universities from Cyprus and Japan, with TECNOVA serving as a leading center for applied research in Spain. The project addresses a shared need among researchers, startups, and companies: the ability to scale their developments beyond their own borders, overcoming barriers such as local legislation, environmental conditions, and the lack of international collaboration networks.

Through this collaboration, exchanges of researchers and entrepreneurs among the participating entities will be promoted, and real-world demonstrations will be facilitated for digital agricultural solutions that already have national funding.

During its stay in Cyprus, the TECNOVA team took part in various meetings with local ecosystem stakeholders—universities, public administrations, technology companies, and startups—sharing experiences and generating new opportunities for cooperation.
